Now that I have the Save the Date situation on lock down I have moved on to far less trivial matters, that are going to require significant more thought and research...our Invitations.
Selecting wedding invitations is a far more difficult task than simply selecting a cute party invitation...There can be no funky drinks, or polka dots, or neon colors. They must be classy and timeless, yet I want them to reflect our traditional southern "Mint Julep" theme.
And as of right now I am very torn. Torn between classic and traditional, and invitations with a more Southern whimsy.
I am very drawn to the classic simplicity of this style of invitation, which is also available in Apple Green, which would match our colors better. The square shape is contemporary, but not
avant~
garde, and there is just enough color to make the invitation visually appealing. Also the dot border around the text is
reminiscent of the patterning on our fine china, Vera Wang Grosgrain.
Another fairly traditional option that I am drawn to is this Lace portfolio invite by Vera Wang. Interestingly enough the lace that is embossed on the cover, nearly matches the lace detailing on my wedding dress! which I think would be a fantastic detail...I may be the only person who realizes it, but it would mean something to me. Also I think that this invitation would be a nice middle ground between the
uber traditional and the more thematic Southern botanical invitations, since the lace patterning hints too at a botanical theme.
My other obsession are these Fantastic botanical print letterpress invitations. I think that their sketched
florals are classic, like the botanical prints of Darwin. They are Elegant, and interesting, but totally unexpected on a wedding invitation. I know that this style of invitation is becoming fairly "in" but as right now I haven't seen too many in...circulation? The images of Dogwoods and Hydrangeas ooze Southern elegance... I think I may have narrowed my field of search...
Also, using the botanical invitations would open the door to me using these fantastic botanical print coasters that i have been lusting for as a favor!
And I love how these pick up the touches of eggplant that My florist and I were talking about incorporating...
But I lust for these vivid peacock invites...their colors are so lush I can hardly stand it!
In addition to doing invites...they also do Ceremony Programs...Maybe an idea for those, I havent even really been thinking about programs!
